Yes last year's figures were bad, but there hasn't been, as some suggest a million every year. We didn't get control of the borders until 2020, and then we had Covid which saw immigration drop very steeply. Post Brexit, quite a lot of people went back to Poland, eg Polish plumbers etc. Businesses were clamouring for more immigration and that was done by Boris to eg fill vacancies in care homes. Plus we had commitments to honour re Hong Kong and Ukraine. All that led to a one-off very big year for immigration. But which of those would you not want here? btw Hong Kongers are generally highly qualified hard working people - and Ukrainians of course are nice people and many will go back eventually.
